Danish Camp 2007

The continuation of my blog catch-up continues. At the end of June, Carley and I went to Corbett, Oregon for another wonderful year as counselors at Himmelbjerget Danish Camp.
The counselors meet in the barn before the campers arrive for pre-camp meetings and preparations.

This year's theme at camp was travels through Denmark or "Rejser i Danmark". The camp t-shirt was designed by yours truly...me!

Campers must get their bags checked in customs before they are allowed to enter "Denmark".

Counselor Jake and our wonderful camp coordinator Melony.

Campers getting their passports stamped in cusoms.

Each family group has a mailbox where inter-camp mail is placed and distrubted during family group.

Garrett mixing cement to make a stepping stone.

One of the evening's snacks was homemade æbleskiver! Yum!

Camp is lucky to have nightly guest appearances by strange characters...

One of my Intermediate Danish classes.

My family group - our area of Denmark focused on Fyn and the surrounding islands.

My second Intermediate Danish class.

We love to dance at camp. Here we sing "Jamaica Jamaica Jamaica! Vi danser hele natten på Jamiaca!"

Butik! Here campers (and counselors, too) can buy Danish candy and pop!

Our Danish counselor this year was directly imported at the last minute. Karen and I actually studied together at Aalborg University in Denmark!

Lowering the flag during our last evening at camp.

Folk dancing for the parents on the last day.

All our wonderful campers on the last day.

The greatest people of all! The counselors!

After the campers have gone home with their parents, the counselors have a final meal before packing up camp!

Some of the campers are still around waiting for a ride to the train or for parents to finally arrive! It has been a fun week!
